About THE WRITING

At its core, Scarlight is a volatile mosaic that flows between my mundane, confessional diary and the epic fiction of multiple character perspectives. Structurally there is a natural oscillation between my intimate, daily life in the subalpine Sierra Nevada and the dramatic 22nd-century future that opens as I witness significant Homo sapiens involved in the mass speciation to Ex-sapiens and Seraphim—one branching species being, in essence, transhumanists who will have evolved to leverage and rely on external technologies, while its counterpart, though small in number, are spiritualists who will rely on internal, ancient technologies. As a fractal, recall the epigenetic split between the stray canine that is fed by a compassionate human versus the wolf that still hunts for deer with its pack across the mountains.
